The Borland Software Collection
The University of Melbourne recently renewed its agreement with Borland
International (Australia) to make it easy for departments to purchase
licenses to use Borland products.
Sixteen Borland products are now included in the programme. They are :
- dBase for DOS
- VISUAL dBase for Windows
- TURBO C++ for DOS
- TURBO C++ for Windows
- BORLAND C++ DESKTOP
- BORLAND C++ DEVELOPER
- DELPHI STANDARD EDUCATION
- TURBO PASCAL for Windows
- TURBO PASCAL 7.0
- TURBO ASSEMBLER
- DELPHI DEVELOPER
- BORLAND C++ BUILDER
- INTRABUILDER
- J BUILDER STANDARD
For $89 per PC, a license to use all of these products is granted with
upgrade rights until 10th September 1998. New versions of any of the products
released during the year will be made available to all licensed
users via the University's SOFTDIST facility.
For those customers who already have existing licences then they can purchase
new rights to use the latest versions of the software until 10th September 1998
for $39 per PC.
Points to note:
- These are licenses only.
- Manuals are NOT available from University Computer Supplies. Customers are
recommended to purchase manuals through the University Bookroomm or purchase Boxed
Academic versions of the software from UCS. Boxed Academic versions come with manuals
and diskettes.
- Disks are not available to purchase on their own.
- Only University departments may purchase licenses. Students and
staff must purchase academic packs.
Software and Upgrade Distribution
Borland software and upgrades are available to the University community
electronically via SOFTDIST, to authorised Department Users.
Support
ITS provides three levels of software support, called A, B and C.
None of the Borland products covered by the agreement are supported at
Level A.
