Using eduroam

eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is a global initiative, forming an agreement between educational and research institutions to share wireless access enabling inter-institutional roaming.
- When visiting participating institutions University of Melbourne students and staff can connect to the eduroam network using their central email username and password (e.g. username@unimelb.edu.au)
- Visitors to the University of Melbourne from participating institutions can access the eduroam network using the login credentials from their home institution.

Where can I use eduroam?
University of Melbourne staff and students:
eduroam is available at over 500 sites world wide throughout 30 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, UK and the USA.
eduroam coverage is available for University staff and students at Royal Children's Hospital (RCH)
University of Melbourne staff and students cannot use eduroam while on campus, they must use UniWireless.
Visitors to the University of Melbourne:
eduroam is available in all the same places as the staff and student network, UniWireless. Check the coverage maps section for up-to-date information.

Conditions of use
The use of eduroam is governed by the Australian Eduroam Policy (pdf, 51kb). University of Melbourne Staff and Students as well as our Visitors must be comply with the University of Melbourne Computing and Network Facilities Rules. Visitors must also comply with the applicable Acceptable Use Policy of their home institution.
The eduroam network is not content filtered and access by staff or students under-18 requires parental consent. In accordance with the Eduroam Policy, the University of Melbourne may log all eduroam activity including; authentication, DHCP and accounting requests. Eduroam logs will be held for a period of time in accordance with operational need.
