The MID farmer forum held yesterday was a great success with approx 70 =
people in attendance with both farmers and service providers having =
their say during and after the meeting. Local farmers discussed their =
proposed strategies to cope with a low water allocation.
Key outcomes from the day included early planning for a tough year and =
then hopefully being able to modify these plans if season improves, =
discussion was had on a channel rotation scheme to improve water =
effiency, the areas that the DPI could help farmers eg feed budget =
programmes and the possibility of having regular monthly meetings to =
obtain latest water updates and as a social outlet for stressed farmers
The UDV acknowledges the input from Gippsdairy, DPI, SRW and the =
Gippsland Regional Extension committee.
