Hi Alastair and others interested in techno toys,
I've tried to use the Palm T5 for the last year and a half, but not =
found it very reliable - first one died and was replaced under warranty, =
the replacement died a month back and I ended up buying a reconditioned =
one from Palm. They don't make the T5 model anymore ---- hmmmmm.
Problem has been that proprietory cattle management software I use or =
have considered is still only set up for Palm, otherwise I would have =
moved to Pocket PC. Also the dreaded 'Upgraded Operating System' =
syndrome exists as new models of PDA are brought out, their upgraded =
operating systems may not allow existing software to work. It took ages =
to get PCFarm to talk to the T5, including a personal visit to the =
programmer in Melbourne for a customised fix.

Subject: Palm Pilots/pda's
Hi,
I am interested in buying a palm/PDA for farm management use.
Does anyone have experience with this type of equipment in terms of =
hardware and software available, how user friendly and "farm-outdoors" =
(read dust/water/shock proof)friendly they are.
I am interested in something that runs GPS as well as the usual =
software programs and any specific farm systems.
Thanks
Alastair
