before you go chasing down work aimed at proving the existence of acidosis
you should have a chat with Dr. Bill Wales at Kyabram. Bill has done a
power of research showing low rumen pHs in grazing dairy cows, but not
appearing to compromise either cow health or production.
Also look up Kolver and de Veth and de Veth and Kolver in Journal of Dairy
Science - particularly Kolver and deVeth 2002.
Acidosis is yet another place where nutrition of pasture dairy cows varies
from the accepted paradigms of confinement systems and so you don't want
to end up doing a project that just regurgitates what is known for
confinement systems but bears little relevance to the majority of grazing
situations.
