Iım researching animals scouring when grazing pasture.
We know of lots of possible causes such as immature pasture, high nitrates,
high molybdenum and/or low copper, low selenium, sudden change of diets even
from dry summer pasture to lush autumn pasture after rain, very fast pasture
growth, noxious plants as well as internal parasites, which adversely affect
animals much more when there are mineral deficiencies.
A question -
In New Zealand Iıve noticed that Murray Greys scour and have dirtier bottoms
than others in the same mob. I know this is a beef breed question to dairy
farmers, but does anyone know if this also occurs with Murray Greys in
Australia and does it happen on drier pastures in Australia?
Are there any other breeds that scour more than others?
Does anyone know of other causes of scouring and solutions?
