Advanced workshop program
Many dairyfarmers have credit for modules, done either in the Dairyfarm
Management Course, in Rural Business Managment, in the Diploma of
Agriculture (Dairy) 1998 version, or in Target 10. We are now using the
new Dairy Training Package as the framework to deliver our dairy courses.
You may like to convert your old modules to the updated versions, and
maybe go on and get the full qualification, without going over all the
same ground again, nor paying the full price again.
To achieve credit into these new modules, our plan is to run refresher or
update days. We are calling these days"Advanced Workshops", using
special speakers for part of the day. We will run the days at our three
sites simultaneously at Sale, Warragul and Leongatha, via video
conference. The full day will run from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm, with the
special speaker 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm, and the cost is $50 for each day.
At each workshop we will spend some time revising the management skills
needed in that module, then the invited speaker will take us through the
latest information in their specialist area. If you have credit for a
module in the past, and you participate in that workshop, you can be
given the current module in the new Dairy Training Package.
The following is the program:
Pastures: Friday 14th May with Professor Dave Chapman
Cow nutrition: Friday 28th May with Dr Richard Stockdale
Herd Health: Monday 5th July with Dr Jakob Malmo
Financial Management: Friday 13th August with Mr John
Mulvany.
Breeding: Friday 27th August with Professor Jock
MacMillan.
Although the workshops are primarily about providing credit for the
current module, they will also provide very interesting discussion on the
latest information in that particular area., and will be worth attending
whether you want the credit or not.
If you would like to attend any of these advanced workshops, contact the
McMillan site closest to you to register.
