Hei Rod & Everyone When you use the downloadable upgrade from Mac OS 9.x to 9.1 you must remove the Language Kits before upgrading. This is known and told bny Apple. The upg. package _does_not_ include any LK upgrades. These upgrades are only on the full Mac OS 9.1 CD, and the upgrade of the LKs must be done from there. Yesterday I installed and upgraded to 9.1US on my PM 7600/120/64mb RAM. The OS 9.1 is running very fine, fast and stable. And a standard install with the upg. only takes about 29mb of RAM - where the 9.0.4 takes 35-39mb of RAM I then tried to install the language kits from the OS 9 CD. Installation went very fine. Everything was placed where they should be.... so far so good! Opening a doc in both NW and AWKS 5.04, changed scripts, languages, fonts, etc., - but nothing works. - No change of fonts, - no change of script, - no change of direction..... The conclusion to this is that no LK from any Mac OS 9.0.x will work under Mac OS 9.1. Other controlpanels and system applications like Snitch 2.6.5 is also incompatible with OS 9.1. - But the other way around - an 'oldie' like MSWD 5.1a _does_ run on 9.1! So you'll either have to wait for the 9.1 CD or stick to OS 9.0.x, if you'd like - or have to use ALKs for your work.
