Yes I did.
My system is from 9.0.4(US) with the Japanese language kit to 9.1(US).
It work good in Japanese and other.

This massage is when it make update startup system folder.
So, you make startup from system folder(8.6 over) on other HDD or CD,
then you make update 9.0 to 9.1 with no probrem, may be.
