Re: OT: Japanese language kit & update to OS 9.1

Somewhere in my travels to get my "Micros*#% Language Kit" (Word) working
in the wee hours of yesterday, I recall a note somewhere that the old
language kits don't work and must be uninstalled before the upgrade, then
the new version kit installed from the CD, which from the quotes below is
available for US$20. Word on the other hand required several hundred US$s
of my time instead, such a deal. What I found particularly perplexing
(with my sluggish Internet access) was that after downloading the update
and mounting the disk image, there appeared to be sufficient unused space
for numerous language kits on the image! In fact, the 150MB disk image
can be saved quite nicely (if you're so inclined) as an 81 MB image
without the excess capacity, and still runs the update just fine. That
means I spent about 4 hours to download air.

From the Apple website:
Apple recognizes that for many customers downloading the update may not
be convenient. Apple is offering the Mac OS 9 to Mac OS 9.1 Software
Update program to allow customers who own any version of Mac OS 9 to
obtain the Mac OS 9.1 full install CD for US$19.95. Details and an order
form are available at www.apple.com/macos/

Important Note: If you use a Language Kit, you must have the full install
CD in order to upgrade your language kit at the same time as you are
upgrading to Mac OS 9.1.
