If you have a large enough monitor, you can show the page layout and the text window simultaneously. the page layout window (with margins) updates as the text is being edited in the text window. If not, you can toggle between them. Use preferences to set the numbers in the i bar to reflect how far down the page you are and this will help you relate to the top/bottom margins.
