In respect for list ownership and having noted that Fred does not want to discuss his decision to "re-turn" this list into a NW list, I have just these few comments/questions: On Thu, 3 Aug 2000 17:45:54 +0200 Kirk McElhearn wrote... >On 3/08/00, at 10:29, Fred Terry pfterry@NETOPIA.COM said: >> So the simplest solution for me >>is to steer this list back to where it is supposed to be. I just dropped a few lines about a new Word Viewer for mac (icWord). It did not relate to NW directly. But it was obvious that it could be of great interest to NW users. And hence(?) Kirk replied - perhaps reluctantly ? - but at least not complaining, telling how usefull he found the program in conjuction with NW. A little earlier there was released a program by Nisus which let one read email directly in NW. Without going through a third party program first. It is mainly against discussion of this program on this list that you - Fred - are acting with your decission. Very quickly discussion about this unique programme has surpassed the amount of discussions that have been over the years about how to get NW to work with MacLinkPlus or Claris translators. And which never has created any debate. Despite they're 3rd party products. And does very little to ad to creative use of NW. Contrary to NE, which delievers email as NW files. And has increased it's users use of NW, and taken their macro writing creativity to a new level. My little problem is this, Fred: I don't understand what your decision is. I would like you to draw up some examples of what should be concidered transgressions and what should be concidered allowed. How could you know that NW in year 2000 should be able to read emails delivered as files in the Finder when you opened your list back in internet stoneage? Yet, that's what has happened. If this is supposed to be the kind of list you say, your ban on discussing this issue here makes my wonder what you concider on topic. Since I can't see the logic here, you better give some examples or work your house tidying idea better out. (Especially I wonder if you makes any difference between In my view NE is clearly on topic. Another issue is that it take up so much space right now that. So perhaps it would be good -for that reason- to make another list. I have to say that this attitude that it is we - the NE users - that have to clean the house and find us another place to live, is not responsible at all. It might be that NW have become such a rich and usable program that it isn't room for all its uses and misuses on one list anymore. But putting it that way is something else than saying that NE is an off topic matter. Because clearly it is not. Leif
