I'm surprised that the Akua Sweets dictionary doesn't give more detailed
information on "basic info for" and "extended info for" [both of which sets
can be applied to files using "apply catalog info", which is interesting].
I'll be happy to run a test script and see what's returned, but I don't see
why the returned values aren't described in the dictionary entry....
Hmm, on the same text file, "basic info for" yields:
{vol ref:-1, folder ref:304980, file type:"TEXT", file creator:"R*ch",
finder flags:258, catalog flags:2, finder location:{1, 0}, creation
date:date "Friday, May 18, 2001 19:40:27", modification date:date "Monday,
May 21, 2001 00:21:09", archival date:date "Friday, January 1, 1904
00:00:00", kind:files, name:"Test File 1.htm", catalog busy state:false,
catalog locked state:false, catalog protected state:false, data fork
length:7, resource fork length:332}
Which is to say, I suppose, volume reference (?), folder reference (?),
file type, file creator, finder flags (?), catalog flags (?), finder
location (?), creation date, modification date, archival date (?), kind
(apparently "files" or "folders"?), name, catalog busy state (?), catalog
locked state (?), catalog protected state (?) data fork length, resource
fork length.
I would guess, looking at the dictionary entry, that "extended info for"
yields the same, plus optional server attributes (?) and desktop comments.
Checking with the same file, I see there's more, the above plus:
...item spec:alias " Great Royzito:Test Folder:Test File 1.htm", parent
spec:alias " Great Royzito:Test Folder:", label number:7, vol name:" Great
Royzito", shared status:false, initted status:true, custom icon
status:false, stationery status:false, locked name status:false, bundle
status:false, invisible status:false}
Thus adding: item spec (?), parent spec (?), label number, vol name, shared
status, initted status, custom icon status, stationery status, locked name
status, bundle status (?), invisible status.
Why the author didn't detail the returned info in the dictionary is a
trivial question, I suppose, but here's another one: Isn't checking for
data fork length and resource fork length pretty much the same as checking
for file size? Not that it matters much for me, since I'm not dealing with
all that many files, or having to modify them much.
