About these archives
These mail archives are databases of electronic mail converted to html by a
program called hypermail.
Searching is being done by the University Ultraseek search engine. New
emails will, on average, by available in the search database after three or
four days.
Incoming mail from the list is published here as it arrives using
Procmail. Each archive contains 100
messages and is available for browsing in 4 different ways - by author,
subject, date or thread (default). Thread and date indexes present the most
recent messages first (ie. reverse chronology). There are always at least 20
messages kept in the current (ie. most recent) archive.
Recent enhancements:
- 5 May 2003: Web Server / Archive Generation updated to allow the search engine to use file Last-Modified information to search/sort archived emails by date.
- 7 Nov 2001: Message counts and dates are again successfully extracted from mail archives (had broken because of change in hypermail output)
New web page standard adopted
- 11 May 2001: Page Update and fix - searching now done through the University Ultraseek search engine
- 27 Jan 1996: Messages indexed in exact reverse chronology (on full reindexes only)
- 30 Jan 1996: Next/prev links on digests now goto the index type being displayed.
